Forget Hobby Lobby: Home Projects You Can Do Yourself

DIY activities, projects, and home improvements are rapidly becoming a craze throughout the United States, which is great news for creative homeowners but also big box craft stores that stock and sell the desired materials to complete a project. Unfortunately, many DIY projects seem to rely too much on making items that aren’t really necessary. After all, how many mason jar candles can a person truly have? And if you want something truly different, it often feels like the only option is to go to Hobby Lobby.Forgot Hobby Lobby Home Projects You Can Do Yourself

Sometimes it feels like Hobby Lobby has a monopoly on individuals because it sells all sorts of decorations and craft projects for easy decoration. What are you supposed to do if you want to make a major creative change but don’t need more stuff? Well, forget Hobby Lobby because here are some home DIY projects you can actually do yourself that take up little space, spruce up an entire home, and can even improve the value and attractiveness of a house.

Install Wall Hooks

An easy DIY project that spruces up a home and creates more space is to install wall hooks or a wall-hanging coat rack to keep clothes, hats, and other items off the floor. Hooks and hangers can be bought from any regular store or made yourself through a little bit of creative metal or woodworking.

All you need to do to hang a wall hook is to find a good place and make sure there are no joists behind the desired spot on the wall. Then, installation is as easy as screwy the hook into the wall. These simple devices will reduce clutter and ensure you have more floor or closet space for other items like shoes, carpets, and maybe even a bookshelf.

Faux Flooring

Faux flooring is a major hit in modern interior decorating because it can be placed in a day, is easy to clean, and can then be removed without tearing up a room. Some of the most popular flooring types are laminate, fake tile, and floating wood. Laminate is easy to place like stickers since all you have to do is remove the paper on the back and lay down boards or tiles with the sticky side facing down. Fake tile, meanwhile, can come in one long sheet that you cut to accommodate a room and then place. Floating wood, meanwhile, is a series of boards that interlock with one another like a puzzle, forming an attractive floor with little work.

These DIY projects can take as little as a day and can be removed as easily as they were placed if you want to redecorate once again.

Sand and Smooth Wood

If you unfinished or untreated wooden furniture, door frames, or cabinets, then you know splinters and breakage can be a problem. As a DIY project, consider investing in a planer to smooth out edges and prevent further damage. Furniture and frames can then be sealed, painted, and decorated in a new style to match your creative whims. This is a beneficial DIY project because it improves safety, the appearance of the home, and can also raise the house’s value since it is more modern.

Splash the Paint

One final, popular DIY project is to bring out the paint. You don’t need more mass-produced decorations to make your home warm and inviting. Add splashes and pops of color throughout your home by painting the splash guard behind sinks and stoves, recoloring the door and window frames, or even just adding a new color to a well-used room.

You can even make your own art to hang instead of buying something from the store, which adds an individual touch to any room. If you have children, consider having them make a unique painting using their hands and feet, or just allow them to go creative. Over time, it can become a treasured or prized family heirloom.

Conclusion

DIY doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive, and it doesn’t mean you need to fill your home with unnecessary physical decorations. If you want to make a major change but have little time, space, or money, consider doing one of these four projects without needing a visit to Hobby Lobby for unnecessary decorations!

8 Tips for The Ultimate Backyard BBQ Party Guide

Grillin’ and Chillin’: 8-tips-for-the-ultimate-grilling-experience.

Spring has finally sprung, and you know what that means, right?

It’s almost time to throw your first BBQ party of the season. After a long winter stuck inside, there’s nothing better than spending a day outside grilling and chilling with some of your closest friends and family.

Before you host a backyard barbecue, though, it’s important to plan out each and every aspect of it. It’ll ensure that everyone has a great time when they show up at your house ready to eat.

Here is the ultimate backyard BBQ party guide.

Buy the Right Grill

Do you already have a grill in your backyard that you absolutely love?

If so, you don’t need to worry about buying another one. But if your grill has seen better days or if it’s just not large enough to cook food for everyone at your BBQ party, it’s time to upgrade.

Whether you want to go with a gas grill or a charcoal grill, there are plenty of amazing grills out there for those who enjoy holding backyard barbecues. Pick up one that you like and spend a few nights cooking on it before your big party to get the hang of it.

Pick Up More Than Enough Food

You can buy the best grill in the world for your BBQ party. But if you don’t have the best foods to cook on it, it won’t do you much good.

There are so many different options that you can pick up for your party. Consider going with a wide selection that includes:

  • Hamburgers
  • Hot dogs
  • Steaks
  • BBQ Ribs
  • Chicken thighs
  • Sausages

This guide breaks down how to buy the best beef cuts for a BBQ. Consult it early and often before heading down to the butcher to pick up meats.

Don’t forget to buy some options for those who don’t eat meat, too! There are lots of delicious veggie burgers that would be an ideal choice for the vegetarians in your life.

Ask Guests to Bring Sides

Under normal circumstances, you might feel guilty about asking guests to bring sides to a party at your home. You’re the host, after all, so you don’t want to burden guests with having to bring anything.

But that all goes out the window when you’re throwing a BBQ party. Most guests are more than happy to bring along a special side that they make specifically for backyard barbecues.

Ask guests to bring sides like:

  • Potato salad
  • Coleslaw
  • Pasta salad
  • Baked beans
  • Cornbread

You might also want to ask one of your guests to spring for rolls for hamburgers and hot dogs, too. This will guarantee that your party has more than enough food for everyone to enjoy.

Fill Up Coolers for Adults and Kids

Once you’re confident that you have the food for your BBQ party covered, move on to drinks. This is another thing that you can ask your guests to help out with if you want.

Fill up at least one large cooler with beverages for adults. Offer a nice selection of beer, wine, and hard alcohol for those who want to make themselves a cocktail.

Fill up one large cooler with beverages for kids as well. Provide soft drinks, boxed juices, and other non-alcoholic options.

Consider setting up a third large cooler filled with bottled water, too. This will keep everyone at your party hydrated throughout the day and night.

Set Up Fun Games

You obviously can’t have a BBQ without food and drinks. But you also can’t have one without BBQ games. They’ll keep everyone occupied and entertained.

Take a look at a few games that you should think about setting up throughout your backyard space:

  • Cornhole
  • Egg race
  • Bocce ball
  • Giant Jenga
  • Potato sack race

Adults and kids alike will have a blast while taking part in the BBQ games that you provide.

Crank Up the Tunes

Playing music at a BBQ party used to consist of plugging a radio in and letting it do its job. But you can do better than that in 2019!

If you have a lot of extra time on your hands, create a BBQ playlist from scratch featuring all your favourite songs. You can use music streaming services like Spotify to put together playlists featuring hits like:

  • “The Boys of Summer” by Don Henley
  • “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince
  • “Summer Breeze” by Seals and Crofts
  • “Hot Fun in the Summertime” by Sly and the Family Stone
  • “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers

You can also set up a satellite radio if you have one and play music through it. Either way, you won’t have to worry about commercials putting a damper on your party.

Make Plans to Do It Again

Don’t let your first BBQ party of the season be your last one! Once it’s over, start planning the next one and try to make each party better than the previous party.

Depending on where you live, you can usually have BBQ parties from April through October if you want. It’ll give you lots of time to perfect the art of grilling and allow you to test out new foods as you move forward.

Send Out Invitations for Your BBQ Party Today

Are you in the process of planning out a BBQ party for your friends and family?

Go all out by investing in a great grill that’ll make the most delicious food. Purchase the best meats money can buy, too, and make sure there will be plenty of sides to go along with them. And of course, make sure you send out invitations to everyone you want to invite well ahead of time so that people can plan to make it. Tips-for-the-best-outdoor-grilling-and-successful-party.

Marketing Strategy for Trade Shows

The development of an application has a key stage that requires marketing to the target audience to spark and maintain the use of the application. The advertisement of an application requires that you have several advertising techniques to achieve the desired results. The size of the company and its reputation as well as the marketing budget, dictate the channels used and the success rate in reaching the target audience. Trade shows can act as avenues for advertising an application. However, there are certain factors that one needs to consider and appropriately prepare and plan before a trade show turns out to be a success. Marketing Strategy For Trade Shows To Boost Your Business

Choice of Trade Shows

There are so many trade shows that occur during the year. The various trade shows have varying themes and focus on different target markets. It would be prudent to define the target market of your product or application and choose the correct audience. The target audience selected will help to choose the correct trade shows to plan and attend. Applications will require trade show displays themed on technology and applications. It would attract the right type of potential investors as well as clients who rely on technology.

Marketing Strategy

Setting up an exhibition at a trade show is not a guarantee that you will convert your stock into sales, or rather you will attract a large following to try your applications. It requires proper planning on how you expect your marketing efforts to yield results. You need to have a marketing team that will assist in designing the marketing process. The marketing aspect of your business should commence before the trade show and will continue during and after the trade show. The structured layout of the marketing process will help to coordinate the activities and consequently harness all efforts towards the one goal of securing subscribers to the application.

Appropriate Display

Participating in a trade show can only guarantee results if you understand how to package your products and services. The layout of your tent and the technology that you use will help sell your business. The location of the tent is part of the display process. The technology utilized such as large phones for the display of the application. The use of video displays will enhance the quality of your presentation and sell your business. Technology-based businesses require to prove to their target market that they can actually perform efficiently and effectively.

Making Follow-Ups

The marketing process planned while utilizing a trade show as a form of marketing plans for tasks that begin before the trade show and continue during and after the trade show. One of the activities that is done after the trade shows includes follow-up on any leads generated during the trade show. Follow-ups could primarily occur via social media and email since the target audience and internet users who may have an opportunity to visit the application are online. The avenues to use include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat, What’s App, Reddit, among other social media platforms.

The process of advertising is one that is circular in nature and revolves around the company activities to not only to sustain sales but also gain new business. Applications form a technology-based innovation that tends to also depend on a technology-based advertisement.

Therefore, emphasis should be on using the right technology and media to achieve the desired target of acquiring users.
