Packing for a European winter trip is almost an art form… You have to pack enough clothes to stay warm, look as best as you can and still keep things light.
Needless to say, that sounds almost impossible… However, the key word here is ALMOST…
In order to help you pack in one bag, keep warm once you arrive and look good while you’re doing it, here’s a short fail-proof list of items you need to bring on your next trip…
Without further ado, let’s start our list…
The Basics of Winter Traveling
Whether you’re just traveling to the Rocky Mountains or you’ve visited Ski Armadillo and booked a vacation in Switzerland, your packing list shouldn’t change too much. Start by packing the basics like long underwear, a few shirts and pants… But now let’s get to the real deal…
Swap Tops for Sweaters
Sweaters are not only warm, but they are pretty cozy and chic. However, they take up a lot of space in your bag. So a smart idea would be to swap out the tops you’d normally pack for your trip for at least two sweaters.
Go For Black Clothes
Black pants can be a savior when you’re traveling abroad, because they never look as dirty as they really are. Plus, they are pretty easy to pair with any other color. You can pair your black pants with a t-shirt and get a more casual look and you get your fancy sweater if you’re going out for dinner.
Bring Some Warm Boots
Aren’t sneakers far more comfortable than boots? Why the heck should you go with bulky old boots? Well, slip-on models are easy to take off; winter boots are quite comfortable, so you can walk in them for hours and lastly they will keep your feet dry and warm, no matter the weather.
Wear Warm Socks
Boots alone won’t be able to keep your feet warm, so it’s crucial to pack a few good pairs of winter socks. Once again, these items do take up a lot of space, so you shouldn’t over-pack. Bring four or five pairs along and wash them as you go.
All forms of hiking, Nordic and regular walking, trekking, protecting knees and joints, and maintaining balance you will want the best in trekking poles.
Additional Warm Accessories
Winter accessories are a great way to add some flavor to your outfits and they are easy to pack. When traveling to Europe, you should focus on these items to keep you warm:
⦁ A pair of colorful gloves
⦁ One black hat
⦁ A few colorful scarfs
⦁ Plus long socks for ladies
Last but not Least: Remember to Moisturize
When you’re traveling anywhere – but especially somewhere cold – your skin will become dry during your flight.
So after you choose your clothes, you should head out to the nearest pharmacy and get some skin moisturizer… This will prevent your skin from drying out and cracking both during your flight and your European adventure…
Last but not least, don’t forget to have some fun on your trip – and if you do forget something, you can always go to a local restaurant, buy a glass of wine and forget about your worries…
This is your vacation after all…
