3 Things You Can Do If You Lose Your Eyelashes During Chemo

When you’re going through chemotherapy, the last thing you’re thinking about is your looks. You may be feeling weak, nauseous, or just tired. Worrying about your next full body mri scan for cancer will be your first priority until a big event, anniversary, or a birthday comes up. Typically after you’ve completed your therapy, your lashes could take 6-8 weeks to grow back. Chemotherapy and some radiation therapies can cause changes to your hair follicles. This means that your eyelashes could grow back weak or fall out for a year or more even after they’ve grown back in. The changes to your hair follicles aren’t permanent and your luscious lashes should grow back again eventually. In the meantime, if your eyelashes are weak or have fallen out, there are definitely ways to bring the definition back to your eyes. Take these three things you can do if you lose your eyelashes during chemo into consideration the next time you have to go out.

1. Accentuate Your Eyes

If you still have lashes, they may be delicate so heavy mascaras or those that require water for removal can cause you to lose more lashes or damage the existing ones. Draw more attention to your eyes by wearing dramatic eye shadow or eyeliner instead of mascara. You don’t have to wear a lot of eyeshadow to cause a dramatic effect. If you’re looking for a smokey-eye look, use more than two coordinating colors of shadow and accent the corners and arches of your eyes with darker coloring. If you want to use two colors, adding a darker color at the corner of your eye, a lighter color on the top part of your bottom lid, and a splash of color subtly around the arches of your lids can brighten up your eyes. If you haven’t lost your eyebrows, or even if you have, you can give the appearance of brows with eyeliner. Drawn on eyebrows will add more definition to your facial features. Drawing more attention to your eyes will take away from the fact that your lashes aren’t at their fullest.

2. False Eyelashes

Wearing false eyelashes is a great option when your own lashes are scarce. There are a variety of false eyelash styles such as whiskey, round, natural, and bold at various lengths. There’s a lash for everyone, whether you prefer long and sassy or short and natural. You can even get lashes that are colorful or vegan! Lashes that require glue are hard to put on and sometimes require precision. Magnetic Lashes are easy to put on, using magnetic eyeliner to adhere. On top of that, they can last for months if taken care of. When you’re feeling weak and tired, the last thing you want to do is fuss with lash glue. Think about using magnetic eyeliner and lashes before fiddling with messy eyelash glue and non-magnetic false eyelashes.

3. Growth Formulas

There are oils and growth formulas that help promote healthy lashes and lash growth. Before using any products on your eyes, check with your oncologist to see if the ingredients will react with any medications or treatments that you’re taking. The last thing you’d want is a reaction before your big debut. Growth formulas have been proven to help with strengthening follicles and promoting healthy strands.

Don’t stay home because you are not comfortable going out with your current eyelashes, give them a boost! Add more flair to your eye makeup to draw the attention away from your eyelashes. If you’re able to wear magnetic eyelashes, choose a style that you’re comfortable with. Keep these tips in mind for the next time you have to make an appearance, your eyes will thank you for it!

If You Cant Find Hand Sanitizing Wipes I Have a Solution

Is everyone ready to stay in for a couple of weeks, I hope you were all able to put in supplies, food and some extra water and oh and TP.

Well, I have been reading so much in the past week my eyes are strained. I have been doing what everyone else is doing and preparing if I need to stay confined for 2 weeks or if it becomes mandatory.

And when I have been out shopping I have been watching what has gone off the shelves and what is still available over the past several weeks, about the time the run on TP and water started. Everyone bought up all the cleaning wipes and hand sanitizing wipes but I noticed that shelves are still full of baby wipes and face wipes and I got an idea. Thinking outside the box and this is not new I found the idea on Pinterest and I wanted to share it with my readers.

Kudos to Moms they are smart and are always thinking of ways to save money so this is a perfect idea for now and in the future. I also search Google and but with the moms on Pinterest I was able to find a couple I can share here:

Mom Tips: Moms are smart and are always thinking of ways to save money so this is a perfect idea for now and in the future.

So if you were not able to find hand sanitizing wipes, you can still buy Baby wipes or Face Wipes and use either “99% isopropyl alcohol” or [“Witch Hazel” which is a natural antimicrobial that kills viruses] and add to the package to make them antimicrobial.

“According to the CDC, the most effective ingredient to use is ethyl alcohol. And they actually say %60 to %80 percent is when you actually get effective,” Kim says. Other antibacterial ingredients such as vodka and witch hazel can be used instead if that’s what a user prefers, but Kim notes that ethyl alcohol is the better option for killing viral germs.

Essential Oils

I am familiar with essential oils and how effective they can be to use when cleaning and in my research, I found using essential oils to name a few citrus oils, Tea Tree Oil, Ecuptuluptus Oil, Thieves, Frankincense, Myrrh, and there are others. And I have another suggestion for those elusive hand sanitizer’s making your own spray that can be used when hand washing just isn’t available when you are out or in the car just by using just a few ingredients: This one is made using %60-%90 alcohol, and essential oils. To keep the spray from drying out the hands add Vit E (optional) according to Lisa Griffith she has recently updated her post to the CDC standards. Lisa has other recipes for handmade beauty products on her site you might want to explore.

If you cannot find aloe vera in one place of the store, try the suntan product section or on the aisle where they sell antiseptic products. And be sure to ask someone, they package products for different uses and market them in different sections of stores.

For guys, we’d stick for metal and stone, as the natural rigidity and masculinity of the materials can fit the style of almost any guy.

If you choose stone, go for gemstones as they all have their meaning of their own, which means you can really customize the meaning of the gift.

But sunglasses can also be a great choice!

It can be a bit of a risky choice, but sunglasses can be an awesome gift if you know your boyfriend’s face and what he likes.

Think about what he needs and get him a pair that he would truly enjoy. Maybe something more under the radar to wear with a suit? Or something more casual, like a tortoiseshell frame, is an awesome choice.

And finally, why don’t you get him a custom ring?
