A Valentine Wreath Of Repurposed TP Rolls

I found inspiration for this wreath on a blog that shared on my Friday Features Party on Jan 24th. I changed it up some,
but I still really love the look of hers, the paint is darker and it seems more delicate, she actually used real Ivy leaves.

I featured her wreath on Friday Features party on Jan 31st.
Toilet Paper Heart Wreath-Oh My Heartsie Girl

What you need are toilet paper rolls, about 30 is what I used for the wreath but it will depend on the size of wreath you are creating. I had everything at home for my project, I like it like that. I already have so many craft supplies I didnt want to spend any money on more. So pretty much-repurposed supplies.
•A wire coat hanger, heavy-duty craft wire or a wire wreath from the craft store. Coat hanger from the closet
•Red paint & brush from craft supplies when I was more actively creating
•Red Ribbon from my Christmas decorations
•Greenery from another project
•Stapler from my husband’s desk
I used a coat hanger and had my son shape into a heart and wire the ends together. He didn’t ask nor did we discuss how I would get the tp rolls on the heart, I was thinking I would thread them on but because the wire was so strong he knew in foresight, I would not be able to unwind with my hands so he closed it tight with pliers. Sooo I decided I would paint the tp rolls and then cut them in thirds and then cut them open, slip them on and staple them shut. Worked perfectly.

The next step was to add ribbon to stabilize the tp rolls as they kept slipping down. I think it really made this pretty, what do you think?
Then I added some ivy I cut up in smaller pieces in strategic places for my eyes appeal.
Did I get it right?

I had a thought that I could add a bow to the center at the top by opted to leave it simple. And here’s another Valentine Wreath I made in 2016

Home Heating Space and Energy Efficient Option With Radiators

Terma Radiators-Designer Radiators and Towel RailsI remember in a few apartments when I was first married that had radiant heat and that was many years ago, I’m sure there are older homes and apartments that still have this type of heating. But now they have improved the aesthetic look of the units. I couldn’t believe how they can actually enhance a wall and provide heat at the same time, take a look. They even wrap around corners, whoever designed this was smart. Some are made to warm up towels before getting out of your shower or bath, that would be nice. Kids and babies would love those warm towels!

Make Your Next DIY Project Mobile With Casters!

Make Your Next DIY Project Mobile With Casters FeatureWith the cost of various products and necessities rising, there is a growing number of people relying on their own talents to complete projects. These are called Do It Yourself Projects (DIY). Whether it be a painting, an art piece, or even updating furniture, the project can be fun and personal. A lot of people use their woodworking skills to create a stunning custom piece of furniture that serves the need and fits the space. Consider adding casters and wheels to the project and you can add increased mobility to that project.

What Is A Caster?

Casters are wheels that add mobility to any item when attached to the bottom or side of your DIY project. These are already fully assembled and ready to go, you just have to mount them to the object. Normally you would need to add up to four or more casters to the item. Be sure to factor the weight limit that each one can handle to avoid any complications. It is necessary to understand the kind of mobility and environment that you need for your item. A great example to use these wheels is under a heavy cart or even on various furniture legs like tables or chairs.

A Large Variety

There are many different types of casters available. The possibilities are endless and depend upon design, environment, and function. Made mostly of metal or plastic, casters come in a variety of gold, silver, and bronze colors; however, with the plastic, there are many different colors that are available. Depending on the project, you can decide what caster to use for aesthetic reasons. It is also important to determine where the project will be used. Different casters are made to roll on different types of surfaces. Carpet casters are thicker and rougher wheels than those that roll on concrete.

Heavy Duty

If your project is a heavy load or something that needs to be very durable, it might be a great option to use heavy duty casters. You can research which caster is best for your needs online for more details. For example, the top end of the heavy-duty casters can hold upwards of 10,000 pounds! While they may be heavy duty, they are quite costly as well. If you cannot find the exact casters that suit your needs, there is always the option to custom design the set. This can not only benefit your aesthetic style but can help make sure they meet your environmental needs.

To Recap

When completing a DIY project, it is important to stop and consider all of the options before completing your project. Deciding which type of casters and wheels to use is important. These range in all color types and styles. The weight capacity needed is important to consider as well. Developing a plan for your DIY project at the beginning can help determine which type of caster and how many you are going to need. Multiple options are available and there are many retail outlets that can offer these wheels to consumers needing them for their own DIY projects. Casters offer versatility and flexibility when adding them to your project. Look at your options and choose the best set of casters for your current or next DIY project.

Let’s Talk-DIY with Pearls

Let’s talk about pearls. Yes, good old-fashioned pearls. The same ones Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel made famous by layering strands of the highest quality gemstones in various lengths around her neck. The fashion industry would never be the same, and the world turned to pearls as haute couture.

But the days of Chanel are gone. That was decades ago. Pearls have since waned in popularity, often looked at as jewelry your mother or grandmother might wear – or so we thought.

All it takes to know pearls are back is a flip through your favorite fashion or couture magazine. Even celebrity gossip mags are filled with images of Hollywoods A-list sporting bracelets, studs, necklaces and the likes. According to Accessories Magazine, so popular have pearls become that their price is even starting to spike significantly.

Right about now, you’re probably thinking about digging your own pearls out of storage. We wouldn’t blame you; repurposing and reusing your own strands can save you a pretty penny and make you super chic in the process. We’ve got you covered with some DIY ideas of our own.

The great thing about pearls is there customizable and easily manipulated. Why not go with a nautical theme for your summer beach vacation? Here’s how to create an awesomely unique pair of earrings:

Mark a spot in the center of two like-sized seashells and make a small pin hole in each. Next, grab a strong adhesive and delicately glue two loose pearls to the inside of the shell (note, it’s recommend you go with faux pearls to avoid damaging any highly valuable gemstones you have lying around the house).  From there, you can use craft wire to weave the two together using the previously drilled hole. You can apply the same basic process to string bracelets and necklaces as well. Make something of your own that speaks to you! There are no rules. For more inspiration, The Pearl Source regularly posts ideas and instructions.  Pearl Earrings from the The Pearl Source

Knotted Bracelet

Pick your poison: Leather, twine, a thin piece of wire…even fishing line for you outdoor types! A knotted pearl bracelet is a killer look popular on the red carpets and silver screens that you can easily pull off yourself without spending a fortune.

Here’s what you’ll need: 16 pearl beads pre-drilled (head to any crafts store to find some) and approximately 2.5 yards of cordage of your choice. Hook the pearls onto the wire with knots on both ends. Tip: You can space them however you’d like, and you can vary the spacing, too. If you’re having trouble finding the materials and your local store, you can always order loose pearls online. Sites like Laguna Pearl offer them at a discount. Knotted Pearl Bracelets Laguna Pearl

Headband (and Other Accessories)

This one is easy. Pick your favorite headband (or handbag, denim or leather jacket, cuff, etc.). Using a strong adhesive (avoid a hot glue gun), dot your item however you’d like with as many pearls as you’d like. Again, it’s recommended you go with faux pearls for this as depending on the adhesive you use, you may end up damaging the pearl. Ivanka Trump is clearly a fan of the look (albeit at a slightly higher price point).

A Simple Choker

Grab a piece of leather cord or ribbon that you’re fond of and make sure it’s a snug fit around your neck (but not too tight that it impedes your ability to breathe!).  Cut the cordage into two equal halves, then use a tapestry needle to make a small hole on the end of one the cords. Thread a four-inch piece of 24-gauge gold wire into the hole, create a wrapped loop, then trim any excess wire that remains. We know – it sounds complicated. In reality it’s not as hard as we’re making it sound. Check out this post for further instruction that provides each step one at a time, with pictures!

Happy crafting!
