I love architecture of buildings inside and out. This gives me the chance to share what New York offers much to its visitors, not least when it comes to the arts. From galleries to the theater, visitors to the Big Apple won’t be disappointed by the impressive number of museums and venues to enjoy.
Museum of Arts and Design
Open all days of the week except Mondays, New York’s Museum of Arts and Design offers visitors guided gallery tours, as well as private tours. There is also the opportunity to see artists and designers at work, and to talk with them about the projects they are working on. While the monthly Studio Sundays that are conducted by professional artist-educators and artists, offer workshops to all age groups. The museum also holds a diverse range of exhibitions featuring work by both artists and designers.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is open throughout the year, apart from on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and on the firstMonday in May. Together with its range of exhibitions, that includes art, design and photography from all over the world, the Metropolitan Museum of Art offers visitors talks, lectures, tours, courses and art-making programs.
The Museum of Modern Art
Also commonly known as MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art holds exhibitions concerning all aspects of popular culture, from art to music. The museum is family-friendly, accessible to the disabled, and puts on classes and courses too.
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
Certainly a visually striking museum, the Guggenheim is among the most famous arts-related museums in the world. The Guggenheim hosts a wide range of exhibitions that reflect its global focus, and it also hosts a number of events.
Broadway will provide a memorable experience for anyone interested in the theatre. With its 40 sizeable venues, Broadway is to the theatre what Hollywood is to the film industry in the States.
Often referred to simply as the Met, Metropolitan Opera is a world-renowned opera house. It puts on many different shows during the course of a year, and is the leading classical music venue in the US.
Like all of the great cities of the world, New York City places great emphasis on the importance of the arts. There is also so much to see that it’ll be hard to resist coming back to New York over and over again.
