There’s no denying that babies are adorable little bundles of joy that change your life forever. That is, until you try to get them to sleep and they’re up all night crying. If that situation sounds familiar to you, then you aren’t alone. Many parents have to deal with fussy little ones that would rather do anything than sleep through the night. Here are 12 hacks to help your baby sleep at night to help baby and parents alike get some much-needed rest.12 Hacks to Help Your Baby Sleep Through The Night

Extreme Swaddling

Swaddles are a great way to get kids to sleep, but they aren’t always effective. If you aren’t having much luck with a swaddle, then consider an extreme swaddle such as the Zen Swaddle. It’s got weighted pads on the sides and chest to simulate being held by a parent. There are also baby sleepsuits that are designed for weaning a child off of swaddles. They offer a snuggly sleeping sack complete with arms and legs. Think of it like some kind of Snuggie for babies. Just be warned that these are for uses in cribs and shouldn’t be used with rockers.

Leave the Diapers Alone

As tempted as you might be to change their diaper every time they wake up, you should resist the urge. Changing a baby’s diaper makes them more alert and awake and makes it harder for them to fall back to sleep. Use absorbent diapers and change them if they poop. Also warm baby wipes in your hands a little first so they aren’t jarring.

Use a White Noise Machine

Lots of parents swear by white noise machines. White noise can help soothe a baby to sleep and keep out the other noises from around the house. They’re also great for parents too! If you don’t have a  white noise machine, then a hairdryer can get the job done in a pinch.

Try Sleepy Tunes

White noise machines aren’t the only sleep aids that help parent and child. Instrumental zen sounds can help too. If you have an Amazon Echo, then why not ask Alexa to play a lullaby or some classical music to help your baby sleep? Music is a great solution. While you’re dealing with Amazon, check out the Renee and Jeremy Amazon Music station, which plays music for naps.

Keep the Room DarkKeeping The Room Dark Helps Baby Sleep

If you have to change or feed your little one in the night, you should try to keep the room as dark as possible to avoid overstimulating them and waking them up more. There are smart LED bulbs you can buy that can be controlled from your phone. You can set it up so that the room is already little gently by the time you walk in. Another option to consider is blackout curtains, which stop light from outside getting in.

Rock ‘n PlayThe Rock ‘n Play Sleeper

The Rock ‘n Play Sleeper is considered by many parents to be an absolute must have. It gently rocks your baby to sleep on an incline that keeps them comfortable (particularly helpful for kids with reflux) and gently vibrates to keep them calm. Even better, it’s completely portable and makes any time or place the right time and place for a nap.

Bounce Around

If you have an exercise ball and are familiar with how to use it, then you can consider gently bouncing your fussy little one to help them relax and get to sleep. Many parents swear by exercise balls. Much like the Rock n’ Play Sleeper, these are also completely portable and handy to have on you. Just be sure to follow the proper safety precautions with it, including ensuring that the ball is inflated properly.

Place Pacifiers

One reason that babies wake up in the night is that they lose their pacifier. If it falls out and they can’t find them, they could wake themselves up looking for it. Avoid this risk by placing some around the crib to make it easier for them to find one when they need one.

Nix the Naps

Try to avoid overdoing it with the naps. Don’t be afraid to make a little noise or have the lights on in the room they use for naps. It makes it easier for your baby to transition between day and night, ultimately making it easier for them to stay asleep through the whole night.

Consider Getting a Magical Doll

There are many great gadgets available for parents. One such gadget is a magical doll that plays recordings of an adult breathing and their heartbeat. These little things can work wonders for kids and they have straps for car seats and cribs to prevent having loose things around your sleeping baby.

Keep Them Warm

Putting your kid down on chilly sheets after feeding them isn’t likely to lull them to sleep. One solution is to put a hot-water bottle in their bed when taking them out for feeding. This keeps their sleeping spot warm ready for when you put them back down. Just be sure that the sheets are a safe temperature for kids before putting them back to bed.

Have a Chill Nightlight

Nightlights are a great parenting tool for children of all ages. There are some that go above and beyond the rest though, including ones that display stars and other shapes and images onto the ceiling.

These distract kids, but in a friendly and fun way that helps them to sleep. You can even make your own at home using a mason jar and some twinkly lights.

Better Sleep for All

Not getting enough sleep is bad for all involved. A sleep-deprived parent is more likely to make a mistake, and sleep deprived children can develop problems of their own. Use these tips and tricks to ensure everyone in your house has a great night’s sleep.

Ten Things Every a Teen Needs to Know About Life

Adolescence is a bridge between childhood and adulthood. While as a teen you are always in a hurry to grow up and leave your parents’ house, there some life hacks that you need before you can start becoming an adult.

Life is about the choices that we make. The right decisions when formed as a teen can have a long-lasting impact when you become an adult. Navigating through life as a teenager can be challenging and difficult, but with the right tools, you should be able to make the right decisions. Ten Things Every a Teen Needs to Know About Life

  1. It is okay to walk alone

The pressure to fit in is very real during the teen phase of life. To fit in, you will need to do stuff the other kids are doing. These can include drinking, smoking, having sex, violence, or watching porn. It is understandable to want to be loved and fit in but engaging in some of these habits can destroy your future. Engaging in meth abuse, for example, can cause you to have serious psychiatric problems and can lead you to early death. It is better you walk alone than be in the wrong company.

  1. Your parents could be right

Teenagers will at some point clash with their parents. It is like they do not understand what you are going through. But, the truth is that they were in the same place you were in at some point in their lives. During this period they made both good and bad decisions; the reason they give you instructions every day is that they do not want you to make the same mistakes they made. When you are young, there are many things that you cannot see the whole picture. This can include the consequences of teenage pregnancy. Parents love you and want the best for you.

  1. Internship will save you in your future job

Instead of clubbing and binge-watching on Netflix during the summer holidays, you can choose to find some internship in a company of your choice.  The skills that you learn during this period will come in handy when you finish college and start job hunting. It is evident that employers will often select someone with experience and is acquainted with their culture as opposed to someone who is “green.” You also get to earn income, which you can learn how to manage.

  1. Being in a healthy relationship

Toxic relationships cost you a lot. It is critical that you learn how to engage in healthy relationships. If you are in a relationship where your partner is controlling, overly possessive, abusive, hurtful or aggressive to get you to sleep with them, it could be the right time to break up. It is important that you know who you are as a teen and learns how to assert yourself in a relationship. Assertiveness includes the ability to express your opinions without fear of been judged. When you are assertive, you know when to say No to something that will ruin your life.

  1. Not everything revolves around you

As a teen, you may get this idea that you are the center of the universe and everything and everybody should revolve around you. This makes some teens to be attention seekers. As a teen, you need to be mindful of the needs of other people. The teen mindset operates from the point of instant gratification. You want something now,and it cannot wait until another time. Parents are often confounded when they are asked to buy the latest games or phones without any due consideration to other pending bills.

  1. Take care of your body

We live in a world that glorifies sex. We are confounded with sexual images in our living rooms – through the TV – magazines, games among others. The pressure to engage in premarital sex is very real for a teenager. It is equally important for parents to teach their teens about the consequences of risky sexual behavior. If you plan to engage in sex, then protect yourself from STDs, and early childhood pregnancy by using a condom. Abstinence, while not primarily promoted in our cultures, is an excellent way to have values and stick to them. You can also ask your parents to connect you with a doctor who should answer any questions that you have concerning your body.

  1. Learn how to save

It is essential that teens learn how to save from an early age. Saving is one way in which to grow wealthy and stay away from debt. Due to the principle of compounding money increases over time. If you start saving early, you will see your savings grow, and this can save you one day when you are in need. You can ask your parents to give you tasks like washing the car or mowing the lawn in exchange for an income. Get a cookie jar and start saving.

  1. Learn how to cook

You are not going to eat mama’s food forever. It is essential that you learn some form of independence during adolescence and cooking is one useful skill that will come in handy during adulthood. This extends to washing your own clothes.

  1. Body changes are normal

It can be scary when their changes going on in your body. Hair starts appearing in private areas, you suddenly have pimples, and for girls, you start menstruating. Learn that these are vital for the next step of adulthood. You are no longer a child, and your body is responding to the hormonal changes going in your body. Do not be ashamed of this. Talk to an adult you trust for advice.

  1. It Ok to say NO

If you feel pressured to do something that you do not feel comfortable doing, learn that it is perfectly normal to say NO. No is a full sentence. Don’t let anyone pressure you to do something that you will later regret.

Conclusion

While teen years are marked by rebellion, confusion and at times promiscuity, it is a great time to learn more about yourself. You can take responsibility of your life and make the right decisions.

Challenges Parents Face in Modern Society

Challenges Parents Face in Modern Society

Parenting is never straightforward, and there is not one right way to go about it. Parents have always been under some degree of public scrutiny when it comes to how they handle their relationship with their children, but never more so than in modern society. Nowadays, parents are sold all these different beliefs of what it takes to be a good parent and are pressured into buying all of the available resources which are meant to teach them the best way to look after their children. In fact, from baby books to parenting classes, a whole industry has been built up around telling people how to raise their children. However, with there being one thousand and one different views on the matter, how are people meant to know who is right and who is wrong?Challenges Parents Face in Modern Society

No matter what style of parenting you might have, from a liberal and free-range approach, to what might be considered a more traditional parenting style, all parents are now facing challenges that weren’t a concern a few decades ago, and it is causing many parents to feel at a loss of how best to tackle these issues. Here are just a few examples of the new and unprecedented challenges which parents have to face in the current day and age.

Increasingly high expenses

Over the last decade or so, the cost of raising the family has grown exponentially. Not only are all of the basic essentials becoming more and more expensive to buy, such as clothes and food, but there is also an unspoken pressure on parents to spend more in order to be the best. For example, whereas twenty years or so ago a lot of information regarding having a baby was conveyed through word of mouth, now new mothers are expected to shell out for pre-natal classes, one hundred and one books on different things, and a team of experts to talk them through all of the best birthing positions.

Then, as children get older, the types of toys they want to play with, and clothes they want to wear are also frequently going up in price, and parents often feel compelled to keep up with the latest trends of what other people are buying their children. Especially in this digital age, where technology is at the heart of modern society. When it comes to things such as the holidays and birthdays, children often expect to be given all of these expensive pieces of technology, always craving the newest models and latest designs.

All of this starts to put a strain on parents whose earnings don’t quite keep up with the rise in costs. It is this downward spiral that often leads people into getting themselves into debt, or missing payments. As a result, people struggle to find companies who will agree to give them the loans or financial support they need, although there are some companies, such as Bonsai Finance, which will still offer loans to people who are on the ASNEF lists.

Societal pressure and fear of judgment

Raising children used to be a very private affair, and the personal business of individual people was not really commented on by anyone who was not inside the family or a close friend. Nowadays, parents face a lot of scrutiny from other people, as so much personal information is available publically. Of course, in a lot of ways, this is a good thing, as it means that issues which can occasionally arise within families, such as mistreatment of children or domestic issues, are made known and can, therefore, be dealt with through the appropriate channels.

However, in another sense, this open nature of modern society also puts an immense amount of pressure on parents to be ‘the best.’ There are so many different conflicting messages that parents receive on what they are supposed to do with their children: Is vaccination good, or does it cause harmful side effects? Are children better off in public schools where they learn to socialize with a broader demographic, or are the better off in private education? If private education is better, where do you get the funding from? What’s the best way to discipline a child now? There are so many different options, with people ready to criticize you no matter which one you choose, that it can be difficult for people to feel as though they are good enough parents for their children.

Protecting children against new threats

Once, the only thing parents had to worry about guarding their children against was not talking to strangers. Now, many children face a new threat which many parents are struggling to protect their children from: the dangers of social media. With an ability to connect with almost anyone online, children are now being faced with influences across the world who could potentially pose a danger to their wellbeing.

Social media was initially created as a way for people to connect with friends and family with whom they may have lost touch, but now it has become a way of life for many. Whereas children used to have idols who were more in the public eye, they now idolize men and women who make money promoting products for money on their social influencer channels.  Through this, more and more children are sucked into the world of wanting the current fashions and ‘must have’ items, because that’s what their role models are telling them.

Not only that, but as children set up these social media sites, they are also posting pictures of themselves across the internet. This has the potential to make them vulnerable, both from online predators and also from online bullying. This is an issue which is truly difficult for parents to resolve, as they face a choice of whether to allow their children on the internet and risk this form of cyber attack or to not allow them the same privileges as other children and have them be cut off from their peers.

These are just a few examples of the challenges which modern parents are facing. There is no set manual on the best way to deal with these issues, and many parents are having to navigate their way through these problems by putting aside their anxieties, making the best decisions they can within the moment, and hoping that they don’t face too much judgment from their peers on the choices that they make.

Become a Better You Inside and Out

It’s always an internal struggle trying to figure out what the right thing to do is and how to be a better person. You may feel that some people come close to actual perfection, but it’s just not possible. Everyone is constantly learning, growing, and trying to make the best out of every situation. Here are 15 ways for you to grow into a better person today. Become a Better You Inside and Out

1. Let The Little Things Go

The chances of the little things mattering in the near future is very unlikely. Dwelling on it and thinking about it will only mess with your mind and your emotions. Just let it go. Everything works out in the end.

2. Take Control Of Your Emotions

Every emotion you feel is normal and powerful, but sometimes when we act out of anger or sadness, it only leads to regret. Take some time to yourself to think about your emotions before you instantly act on them. It also is a lot easier said than done, but you should let go of your anger. Built up anger may affect your health. It can cause digestive problems, difficulty sleeping, and even heart disease.

3. Move

Stay active. We aren’t meant to live a sedentary life. More movement translates into more happiness. Supplements may be able to help you get that extra boost. You can check Scams Review to find out which supplement works best for you.

4. Eat Healthier

You have definitely been told this a million times, but eating healthier actually does make your mind and body feel better. Cut out the sugar and add more fruits and vegetables to your diet.

5. Read

Reading has the ability to take you to another universe. It can teach you about the world and improve your emotional intelligence. It also will make you a better writer and communicator. In this world, communication is key. If books aren’t your thing, read anything else.

6. Give

Whatever you can give, give. Whether it be your time, money, or skills, giving is a humbling experience. You may not be able to save the world, but specifically giving locally will show you the impact you can have. It will also make you feel great.

7. Make Time For Yourself

You will have nothing to give if you don’t give to yourself. It’s important to take time out of every day to honor and support your emotional wellbeing.

8. Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Nothing wonderful ever came from staying in one’s comfort zone. Being uncomfortable can be stressful and scary but you know that it will all be worth it. You will never know what you’re capable of if you never leave your comfort zone.

9. Spend Time With Friends

Unfortunately today, real conversations with friends have been replaced with likes and comments on social media. Make the time to see your friends in real life. Have real conversations where you may actually “lol”, but for real.

10. Put Yourself In Their Shoes

You may not be ready to hear this, but you are not always right. Think about where the other person is coming from. Listen to their points and validate their feelings. Being a good listener can change your life for the better.

11. There’s Room For Failure

Everyone makes mistakes because everyone is only human. It’s ok to fail and make mistakes but make sure you take responsibility for them. The only way you will ever succeed is by failing. Make sure you give yourself credit for all the mistakes you didn’t make as well.

12. Don’t Take Shortcuts

The best results come from long hard work. Taking shortcuts will only cheapen the results. Don’t make any excuses as to why you can’t get it done. Own up to everything you need to do to succeed. The best people to be around are the people who don’t hide from hard work.

13. Be Kind and Honest

Being a better you can only be done by being better to other people. Kindness shows compassion that touches everyone. It doesn’t cost you or anyone else to be polite, share a compliment, or to be honest. It hurts to be lied to, so don’t be the liar. Learn how to articulate your thoughts, feelings, and ideas in an open and honest way.

14. Don’t Compare Yourself To Others

The moment you start comparing yourself to others is the moment you push yourself off your own unique path. There is enough success and happiness in the world to go around, so stop focusing on what you want from them, and focus on your path to reach your goals.

15. Be Open To Change

Being open to change allows you to grow because you experience something new. Nothing stays the same forever, so enjoy every moment and every change that enters your life.
