4 Ways Flowers Can Help With Mental Health

Flowers are a mood booster, and we all know the kind of impact it can have on people. They can bring a smile on a sad face and can light your mood up on special occasions. They can also change the complexion of your surroundings as adding some flowers in your room can make it look much more appealing and relaxing. But do you ever wonder what it is that makes a flower a mood booster and how it improves our mental health? In this article, I have mentioned a few ways in which flowers help us improve our mental health. Let’s take a look:

Flowers Help You Fight Anxiety

Anxiety and stress is part of our lives, and in this modern, fast-paced world majority of us have to deal with it at some point in our lives. You can do a lot of things to improve your mental health and fight anxiety; flowers provide you with a calming effect and a short term solution for your problem. According to a study conducted by Hort Technology, a hospital patient who got flowers from visitors felt a lot less anxious than the other patients and were also more optimistic about their recovery. If you think a close friend or a loved one is going through tough times, then you can order them some flowers from the florist at Ivanhoe.

Better Sleep

It is very important for all of us to get a proper good night sleep. If you are not getting proper sleep, you will start noticing that you are not able to function as efficiently as you used to before. With poor sleep, you lose focus, and it affects your job directly. You can adopt several healthy habits and can start exercising to get better sleep. You can also put fresh flowers in a vase beside your bed as the smell of lavender regulates your blood pressure and lowers your heart rate. That helps you relax and sends you into a restful sleep.

Memory Booster

Flowers are also a great memory booster, especially having rosemary in your surroundings sharpens your recalling. An experiment was conducted to test how well one can remember after smelling flowers. There were three groups of people one was asked to smell lavender, one rosemary and others were not given any specific scent. The test result showed that the people who smelled rosemary much the details about the objects that were shown to them much better. People who smell lavender very a little behind but that is because lavender also triggers sleep in you.

Colors and Emotions

We all know that certain colors are associated with certain emotions. Red is the color of anger; yellow is the color of happiness; blue is a color of calm for some people and melancholy for others. Apart from that, colors are also connected with our memories, and the colors we associate with a good memory can help us stay in a better mood. So, when you are buying a flower put some thought into its color as well, because you want to feel relaxed and happy when you look at it.

Blogging Identity : Expectations vs. Reality

Blogging-Identity-Expectations-vs-RealityWith so many writers out there, it is no surprise that there are millions of blogs available online. Blogging can be fun and will get you the exposure you are looking for. There are people who choose to hide their identities in anonymous blogs. While they have their benefits, not all bloggers need to have anonymous blogs. Here are some reasons why you may not need an anonymous blog.

  1. Legal issues

For some, having an anonymous blog protects them from being held liable for their posts. If you want to use your blog to bully or slander others, you are better off not doing it at all. You will enjoy the benefits of being on an anonymous blog but it’s only a matter of time before the anonymous tools used become outdated and your identity is revealed. What happens next is that you will be held responsible for all the things you wrote in your blog.

  1. You want to spread lies Are-there-bloggers-that-want-to-just-write-lies.

People read blogs so they can get entertained, get informed or learn more about what other people are going through. If you want to spread lies to other people through your blog, then you should not get an anonymous blog. Spreading lies will have a larger effect online as people will share the information you post. You will lose your credibility if your audience realizes that you are misinforming them.

  1. You cannot handle having your identity discovered

There are several reasons for you to start an anonymous blog. Even if your subject is not sensitive or controversial, you hide your identity for a reason. If you are an introvert who values privacy, you will not want to risk having your identity revealed. For this reason, you should not want to have an anonymous blog if you cannot handle being outed.

  1. You cannot handle criticismDo-bloggers-hide-their-identity-because-they-do-not-want-criticism

The greatest thing about a blog is connecting with your readers and has discussions with them. Not everyone will agree with what you say. There are some who will criticize your work. You need to be able to accept and respond to what your readers throw at you. There are people who enjoy causing drama since their identities are hidden. You need to have thick skin so you can react properly to what is said in the discussions. If you do not respond well to criticism, you should not be a blogger in the first place.

  1. You don’t have the time

To run a successful blog, you need to have time to write and post regularly for your readers. If you have a busy lifestyle, adding a blog to the mix will only complicate things for you. You will not have time to create and post content. There is no need to start a project if you do not have time to invest in it. You will end up stretching yourself too thin and this will have a negative impact on your life.

  1. The subject is harmless

This depends on your audience. You can find that the topic you want to discuss is not sensitive or controversial. If you will not offend or segregate a section of your audience with your work, you can blog freely without using an anonymous persona.

  1. You want to boost your reputation

You might find your blog dealing with something that is not related to the work you do. That does not mean that your blog has to be anonymous. You can find yourself boosting your reputation through your blog. Depending on your niche, your blog might end up being something you can brag about. Being anonymous will only hide your talent that you should be showcasing to the world.

  1. The content is not that important to you

One requirement for any blogger is to have a passion for what they are blogging about. That is the only way you will enjoy blogging even if it is anonymously. If you want to write something to inform people but are not passionate about it, there are different ways you can do this. You can create content for a specific audience and send it to them. For security purposes, you can password-protect the content and send the logins with the intended audience.

Oh My Heartsie Girls Wonderful Wednesday

Well I have been trying to stay busy and in doing so, I have been sewing masks with the intention of making a few sales so I reopened my Etsy store which was a learning curve since I had not used it for many years, but I felt pretty smart wink wink, that I was able to get it going. It just happens to be called “Live Laugh Love To Shop”, and I will be adding some mask making supplies plus other craft supplies I really don’t use. And then I finally made a spring wreath for my front door. Another spring update, my son rebuilt my above ground gardens and filled them with fresh dirt and I was able to plant a few tomato plants and some flowers. So have you been able to focus and have you started a spring project or planting flowers?

A Comprehensive Guide to AARP Discounts and Benefits

A-Comprehensive-Guide-to-AARP-Discounts-and-BenefitsIn the U.S., everyone’s heard of AARP. If you’ve hit 50 years of age, you’ve likely started receiving ads and invitations to join in the mail. Despite AARP’s widespread popularity (the most recent data shows that the organization has about 38 million members), you may not know everything AARP has to offer.

While there are numerous organizations similar to AARP that work on improving the quality of life of seniors, few match the scope of AARP’s operations or offer the same value.

If you’re considering signing up for an AARP membership but don’t know enough about the organization to make a decision, keep reading to learn more about the group and what it offers its members, retirees and non-retirees alike.

Joining AARP

Like many other non-profit and social organizations, there is an eligibility requirement for joining the AARP. To apply for membership, you have to be at least 50 years of age. The subscription fee for the first year is $12 per month if you sign up for auto-renewal. From the second year and onwards, the annual membership renewal fee is $16. Keep in mind that purchasing a membership allows you to add your spouse for free—they’ll enjoy all the same benefits and discounts.

Signing up for the AARP is a straightforward process; all you have to do is visit their official website and join from there.

Types of AARP Discounts and Benefits

AARP partners with hundreds of organizations across the country to improve the lives of seniors, and also has a well-developed website and app full of information and tools. The majority of AARP benefits fit into one of the following categories:

  • Free online services, resources, and content available to anyone with an Internet connection
  • Free online services, resources, and content created for seniors only
  • Member-exclusive online services, resources, and content
  • Member-exclusive discounts
  • Benefits and discounts provided to AARP members from third-party corporations and organizations

Online Tools, Resources, Networks, and Services AARP provides a wide range of top-notch online tools, resources, networks, and services. You can access these platforms through the AARP website or the AARP NOW app made available to members upon subscription. Some benefits include:

  • Finance and health tools
  • Social security resources and benefit calculator
  • Retirement planning resources
  • Tax filing assistance
  • Job search tools and resume help
  • Car buying program
  • Fraud watch network
  • Entrepreneurship resources

Discounts on Food, Travel, and Other Experiences

You’ve worked hard for the better part of your life, so why not enjoy the finer things once you’ve retired? AARP membership includes discounts for major restaurant chains, hotels, flights, car rentals, movie theatres, and more.

Insurance Programs and Discounts

AARP membership can also indirectly save you money on auto insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, home insurance, and more. How does this work? Note that AARP doesn’t directly offer these discounts; private insurance companies create policies with the specific needs of seniors in mind and extend these plans to AARP members at a discounted rate.

For example, you should find out if you are eligible for AARP member auto insurance plans and discounts via third-party insurance providers. On top of lower rates and specialized policy options, these insurance companies typically include services such as senior driver safety programs, roadside assistance, and towing in their AARP member-oriented programs.

Entertainment and Online Content

Many retirees look for new ways to fill their time now that they’ve stopped working. AARP offers entertainment options like news and politics updates, articles curated for the 50+ audience, discounted books, a discounted subscription to Audible, podcasts, online games and puzzles, and more.

AARP Savings and Opportunities

AARP membership opens the door to countless resources, services, information, and discounts. While people look forward to their retirement years, it’s no secret that finances limit many seniors. As a senior, you’ll want to save anywhere you can, and you’ll want access to resources and opportunities. AARP helps seniors by meeting their unique needs based on their demographic and lifestyle.
